Pilates ... As seen on Fox 29's Good Day Philadelphia!

Corps Pilates at Triune features group classes and private sessions on the Reformer and Pole System. Starting this fall, we are open on Saturdays from 9 am to noon.

Embraced by celebrities for sexy silhouettes and the secret training weapon of professional athletes.  Loved by golfers.  Recommended by health practitioners.  This 80-year-old method of exercise is experiencing a resurgence in popularity because its benefits are endless and people of all levels can do it.  In fact, it’s estimated that 9.5 million people will participate in a Pilates class in the coming year.

Whether you want to get ready for the golf course, alleviate lower back pain, or simply look

hot in that new bathing suit, Pilates can help you achieve your goals. In as little as five sessions,  you’ll notice increased energy and flexibility, reduced stress, stronger muscles, and a lengthened appearance.

With Corps Pilates, you’ll learn from an experienced instructor whose clients range from first-time exercisers to collegiate athletes.  Our personalized Pilates programs, taught in a fun and straight-forward manner, make it easy to get results.

Just what is Pilates?

At the turn of the century, Joseph H. Pilates developed this method of exercise and movement with the intention to eliminate physical limitations. He was a pioneer in the study of physical education and dedicated his life to teaching his method.

"The Art of Contrology", as it was originally called, is a method of exercise whose purpose is to attain and maintain a uniformly developed body. Its movements are derived from Eastern and Western philosophies, and combine key elements of yoga, physical therapy and intentional breathing. This requires the re-patterning of muscles and skeletal development as a result of habits, occupation, injuries, hobbies/sports, and lifestyle. As you begin Pilates training, you will see results in improved posture, energy, strength, flexibility, and often relief of pain.

Steffi Freedman, Certified Pilates Instructor & Owner

My interest in Pilates started when I was little.  Early days of tutus and tap shoes introduced me to movement, and it was the beginning of a lifelong passion.  I have over ten years of professional experience in the fitness field, during which time I’ve worked at Penn State, in New York City, and Philadelphia.

Five years ago I began formally studying Pilates at a highly respected studio on the Main Line.  Upon completion of its Comprehensive Instructor Training Program, I taught private and group sessions there and at the University of Pennsylvania.  I am committed to continuing my understanding of Pilates through lessons and workshops, and am recognized as a certified instructor through the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA).  Since opening Corps Pilates, I’ve been teaching off-site at GlaxoSmith-Kline and as a visiting instructor at Cascina Papaveri in Costigliole d’Asti in Italy.  In addition, I am a contributing expert on the web’s cutting edge health information site, www.HealthandWellnessExpert.com
