Pre Natal Massage
Pre Natal Massage at the Triune is the therapeutic bodywork that is geared to meet the unique needs of the pregnant woman. It will promote better function of muscles and joints, improve circulation and overall body tone; it will help alleviate the backaches, leg cramps, and swelling that often accompany pregnancy. Additionally, prenatal massage will decrease mental and physical fatigue as well. By having regular pre natal massage therapy at Triune, mothers are physically and metally relaxed, allowing the new life inside to be nourished. Prenatal massage at Triune also facilitates postpartum structural realignment and healing of connective tissue when a Cesarean section must be performed.
At Triune, before a pre natal massage session begins, we carefully review your medical history review to determine if a release from your pre natal care provider is necessary, and to enable the therapist to focus on areas needing relief.
We may begin Pre natal massage during the second trimesters of pregnancy, though there are also significant therapeurtic benefits for beginning in the third trimester as well. The therapist will first educate you about effective and safe exercises, ways to improve posture, diaphragmatic breathing techniques, and relaxation visualizations. The bodywork takes place in a clean, private, nurturing space, often with soft lighting and soothing music. During the massage session, a light oil or lotion is used which lubricates the skin to enable a gliding action across the muscle and helps replenish the skins suppleness and tone.
While lying on her side, a pregnant woman may be massaged on her side, in a semi-reclining position, and even on her belly, with the use of a specially-designed pillow. With the soft low lighting and soothing music, our fully certified massage therapist will apply gentle massage strokes over the back and entire body.
Helping to relieve sciatic nerve pain and multiple other conditions experienced during pregnancy, pre natal massage therapy at Triune is an effective way to calm, and promote overall well-being.
